Not about the big things. But about this one thing I keep telling myself every time I create something new, every time I launch an offer, every time I sit down to build:

“Once I make enough money, then I’ll be free to create what I really want.”

But here’s the thing, I never got there.

I make the money. I pay the bills. I invest a little here, some more there. I breathe for a second. And then I’m right back where I started, scrambling again, creating again, surviving all over again. Like broooo!

It’s this loop I couldn’t seem to escape. And I know I’m not alone in this. You’re in it too, aren’t you? Else you would not be reading this.

You create something. It works. You make some money. You feel alive for a minute. And then the money runs out, or you lose your motivation and you’re back at square one, asking yourself, “What can I sell? What can I create? What new business can I start? Perhaps I need a second job, another hobby, a whole new plan? What can I do to keep myself afloat?”

We run through so many hoops trying to bring more money in so we can stop just surviving all the time.

And the whole time, you think you’re moving forward. You think you’re building something. But really, you’re just... stuck. Stuck in this tiny little energetic loop that keeps you thinking about yourself all the time. Your bills. Your problems. Your survival.

And I finally understand why.

It’s not because you’re not working hard enough. It’s not because what you’re creating isn’t good enough. It’s not just because you need a better strategy, or a bigger goal or whatever else we obsess over.

It’s because you’re creating from the wrong energy center.

And until you shift where you’re pulling your ideas from, until you stop letting survival be your only source of inspiration, you’re going to stay stuck in this survival loop forever.

I know that sounds harsh. But I also know it’s true. Because I’ve been there. I’ve lived in that loop for years. Creating, surviving, creating, surviving. Always thinking about myself. Always worried about the next bill. Always one bad month away from panic.

Until I realized something that changed everything.

And it’s not what you think.

It’s not about manifesting more money. It’s not about working harder. It’s not even about changing what you’re creating.

It’s about changing WHO you’re creating for and WHY you do what you do.

For the past 14 days, I have been strapped to my bed, sick af, suffering from flu, malaria, and a complete system collapse that threatened my very minuscule existence. To make it worse, I live alone. This means aside from being sick, I also had to deal with the walls of my house feeling like they were closing in on me.

Thankfully, my Mom and a couple of friends were hounding me with daily phone calls to check in. So as much as the world felt awfully quiet during this time, I had a few people twittering in my ears every now and then to remind me that I wasn’t alone.

But 2 weeks of being sick was dreadful. I had moments when I tried to remember what it was like to be a healthy, normal human. And several times I really felt like my life was slipping away from me. In all this time, I also could not bring myself to do anything else but be in bed, scrolling sightlessly on my phone and groaning into my pillows.

Prior to falling sick, I had just begun to get my groove back into posting content again. I had a new direction I was working with, my schedule was beginning to feel legit, and I was sure as hell where my life was heading.

But throughout this time, unfortunately, I was unable to do anything at all. I had gone from 100 to 0 real fast, and since all I could do was scroll and watch other people, I eventually gave in completely to that. And I must say, I learned so much in this time than I bargained for.

The Blur of Useless Days

Being sick put me in a situation where I could do nothing but be sick. This, of course, brought me face to face with my existence as I had to really examine what manner of life there was to live when you had nothing useful to do. The days quickly crawled into each other, blurring lines between day and night. Hours flew by so fast that as soon as I noticed it was a Sunday, it was yet another Sunday AGAIN! I had nothing to show for myself in this time except for the fact that I had been in bed scrolling.

And from all my endless scrolling, I remembered nothing useful from what content I had consumed.

Nothing.

Here’s what became very clear to me, which I admit, I have known for quite some time now.

The Two Categories of People (And Which One You Really Are)

The world as we know it is officially split into 2 main categories of people: Those who make things, and those who use what others have made. At any point in our lives, we are usually simultaneously both these people. Unfortunately, there are fewer people making real useful stuff than those who just use what others have made. In simple terms: creators and consumers.

And while being sick forced me to be a total and full-time consumer for 2 whole weeks, I learned how awful this position is. To sit there, just taking in what everyone else has created, not having my own creativity going, this was brutal for me.

Life lacked a sense of meaning.

And this “sense of meaning” is exactly my point in this letter. Because from what I know now, this sense of meaning, which is ultimately what everyone is searching for, comes from the application of ourselves towards our soul’s work. And when we speak about your soul’s work, we are talking about the most unselfish aspect of your human involvement that requires you to apply yourself beyond yourself.

What you are doing when you’re truly involved in your soul’s work is not just about you alone. And it doesn’t even have to be about a great many people. You do not have to be trying to save the world or building something enormous. But just the sense that your motivation is not about you alone.

That’s the difference between making something and just existing.

The Distraction Epidemic

The problem? We live in a very distracted world right now. We live in a world where it seems like every single thing is fighting for your attention. And your soul’s work? It requires your whole fucking attention. It requires your vitality, your awareness, your curious concentration, your endless devotion. This type of dedication to your higher mission is so vital if you’re ever going to make something of your life that you’re proud of.

And when you realize that everything is now a threat to the real reason you’re on this planet, you really gotta take a step back and acknowledge what is actually going on.

It’s so funny because as abundant as the world is now with new incredible technology and information, it is just as abundant with the distractions to keep you from using these abundant resources to improve your life.

While strapped to my bed these past couple of weeks, I had no desire to engage in deep, so-called useful content. I just wanted to content myself with entertainment. And this time of self-soothing and entertainment showed me just how poor the algorithmic selection is on our social feeds. What’s been programmed for you to see is such mental junk food that it is quite damning to be exposed to this media daily.

My brain is fried from the nonsense. It was like someone put my brain in a blender and turned it to mush.

And then, by accident, everything changed.

The Ray Williams Johnson Revelation

But something incredibly profound happened by my second week of being in bed. By seeming happenstance, TikTok recommended a video from a creator I had never seen before, Ray Williams Johnson. It was a sort of storytime video about a true crime that had happened in America years ago. I’ve always been a true crime fanatic, so this was good for my scrolling. But it wasn’t just the genre of the content, it was also Ray’s creative style of presenting the content. The storytelling, pacing, animations, edits, everything about this 9-minute TikTok video had my creative brain intrigued.

Without warning, I had swiped from the initial recommended video to his main profile feed, and soon I was watching video after video after video on Ray’s page. This is quite unusual on TikTok. Usually I’d be swiping on the For You feeds waiting for my next dopamine hit of distraction.

Instead, here I was on a single profile, watching hours of video content. And for the next 3 days, I’d shower, have a meal, take my medication, and lay in bed swiping through hours of Ray’s videos.

Yes, there is something to be said for the fact that they are addictive because there’s a new story each time. But also, I was caught up in the consciousness of pure creativity and expression that Ray put into making each video. There’s also the argument for how deeply consistent the guy is, churning out an average of 1 video a day. This means by the time I found his content for the first time in November 2025, the guy had already produced years worth of content just waiting for me to consume.

Not only did this blow my mind, it also deeply inspired me as an Artist and Creator. The ruthless consistency, the simplicity of sticking to his style, the sheer brilliance of his skill as a storyteller and presenter.

I was in absolute awe!

Now let’s not even talk about how fast my jaw dropped to the floor when I scouted him out on YouTube and found out he’s been posting videos for the past 16 years! And true to his game and his skillset, you can see the consistency through everything! I had to go all the way back into his archives of videos, scrolling through year after year just observing how his content has morphed over time. And for 16 years straight, this dude has had a high production output, consistently being a Storyteller through every phase of his growth and sticking to his style for long periods of time.

Wheeeeww! I have had quite a conversation with myself about this encounter.

Because this is what it looks like when someone actually lives their mission.

What It Takes to Pull This Off

Can you imagine what level of dedication to your mission is required to pull off something like that? You cannot be in bed with distractions and lose sight of your soul’s excitement. You cannot afford to simply be on the sidelines being just a consumer.

It takes a hell lot of a “fuck you” to every other road that doesn’t lead to your soul’s work to be able to dedicate yourself in such a distracted world as this.

As you can imagine, this was all the motivation I needed in coming back to my work.

The Creator’s Mandate

In today’s world, where there are 2 clear distinctions between creators and consumers, being a creator who is actually creating and not pretending to be creating is so crucial.

You want to look back years from now and witness your own catalogue for yourself. Whatever this catalogue is going to be. You want to be the person people turn to when they need the type of content, art, creation that they need. And more than anything, you want to be creating so much more than you’re consuming.

Because time is really so simple. You’re either alchemizing time into a creation or you’re wasting it away.

How We Store Time

Personally, I’ve always seen time as something that can be captured and stored. We are storing time when we make music, art, write a book, write a blurb, bake a cake, cook a meal, dance in tune, workout, sleep, or even scroll endlessly on social media. Our use or experience of time is how we store it. And depending on what you have stored time into, you can reap the benefits of that.

Simply put, if you’re a writer and you spend 3 months writing a novel that goes on to sell 100 copies every month for the next 20 years, then you stored 3 months of your life that now pays you dividends for a long time.

If you spent 90 minutes baking a birthday cake for a friend, that cake becomes a store of that time and it also reaps the fruit of fond, loving memories with your friends at the party.

You get my point.

Your Soul’s Mission

But back to our creative work and the ultimate joyous mission of our Soul,

Now more than ever, you gotta get so fucking stoopid clear on what your Soul is really here to do. Then step all the way back from annihilating your own mission and really give yourself the permission to finally start storing time towards your mission.

It takes a whole lifetime to achieve what you’ve come here to do, whatever that might be and however long that might be. Some people’s missions require 33 years of a lifetime. Maybe yours requires 80 years of a lifetime. The truth is we never know. So while we yet live in a world that is out to suck your life out of you, I hope you have the balls to claim yourself back from the traps and soul suckers and milk every minute you’ve got to create such wonderful artwork of your life.

Because, Time

Yes, yes, I’m rambling through this letter. But I haven’t written in so long and being sick has had my belly twisted in knots and Ray Johnson’s work ethic has got me so fucking fired up and I just had to write this out of my veins and get it to you as quickly as possible.

Because, Time.

So here’s my question for you:

What are you storing your time into today? This week? This year?

Are you creating the catalogue you want to look back on, or are you scrolling through someone else’s?

I’m not asking you to have it all figured out. I’m asking you to notice. To get honest. To feel the difference between a day spent alchemizing and a day spent consuming.

Your soul’s work is waiting. It’s been waiting. And the world, this loud, distracting, soul-sucking world, will keep giving you reasons to put it off.

Don’t let it.

The creators who changed your life didn’t wait for perfect conditions. They didn’t wait until they felt ready. They just kept showing up, storing time, building their catalogue while everyone else was scrolling.

You can start today. Right now.

Not tomorrow. Not when you feel better, clearer, more prepared.

Now.

Because time is the only thing you’re actually spending. Make sure you’re spending it on something that matters.

Make sure you’re spending it on you.

You can no longer afford to pretend that you are not who you know yourself to be.
The time has come to step into your truth and be honest about who you are.

You have known this truth for as long as you’ve been alive. You are cut from a different cloth, distinctly unique from the rest.

Never have you doubted that you were different. Yet here you are, clinging to old stories and narratives born from the ignorance of your past.

You are not who they said you are.
You are far more than you have given yourself credit for.

The anxiety and weight you feel are the burden of falsehood you have carried for too long. You have almost convinced yourself of the lie you’ve been trying to believe.

You can lie to the world, but you cannot hide from who you truly are.

You are both the messenger and the message. You are the vessel of truth, the embodiment of light, come into this realm to establish a new order and lead a new way.

Your people have been waiting for you. And now, as you already know, is the time.
It is time to stop hiding in the shadows.

⚶ Light cannot be hidden.

What you carry is needed.

The world has been pleading for your light to shine.
Many are tied to the unfolding of your destiny, for in your rising they will see the path and the way for themselves. If you do not do your work, their work suffers.

You hold a rare and magnificent gift.

No other being on this planet carries exactly what you do. The gift you bear cannot be delivered through any other portal but yours.

This is the day you reclaim yourself, your sovereignty, your power.

Within your DNA, inside your bloodline, is a self-directing principle. This principle must be activated by the direction of your powerful will. Accept and honor your power as the ruler of your life, the director of your ship.

To deny yourself this honor is to empower another in your place.
To give your power to an external being is to deny your God-given right to divinity and life.

You owe it to yourself to stand firm in what you know to be true.
What you know is greater than what the world has tried to tell you.
No one can tell you the truth about yourself but you.

No one can rule over you unless you give them that right, consciously or unconsciously.

The Great Reset

This is the time we have been waiting for.
The great reset is upon you.

You must break the self-destructive programs of old and activate your God-given codes of rulership. You are a sovereign being. You are here to awaken and install the original codex and blueprint long forgotten.

This is not a time to simply believe. This is the time of the greater knowing.
And you already know.

Awaken your senses to that which is unseen, formless, and in the void. You have stepped onto a higher plane of existence and now stand at the edge of transformation.

There is no greater truth than the one you carry in your blood and in your bones. This truth you must remember.

To be led astray by the voices of those who seek to distract and dissuade you is to lose both your way and your rulership.

She speaks as a still, small whisper, nudging you in the way that is right for you. To hear her, you must be silent, separated, and set apart from the noise of this world.

Before you engage with the world, engage with your Self. Call upon the divine gift and spirit that animates your vessel. Ask for guidance always.

Your Word is Your Magic

Practice the voice of your soul by writing, casting spells of instruction with the wand of your pen. Know that your word is your sword and your magic. You must have a pen.

You cannot fail.

You are on course. You walk the path of the warrior.
You cannot be broken. You will not fail.

Do not relent when the way seems uncertain. Do not hold back your courage when troubles arise. For these troubles do not come to defeat you but to strengthen you.

Every obstacle is a reminder of the great force you are.
Whatever stands in opposition is, in truth, a gateway to your greater unfolding.

It is all working for you, even when you think it is not.

It is time now.
You are in time now.
This is what you have been waiting for.

Hold fast.
Keep burning.

There is so much that wants to be written through you, spoken through you, expressed through you.
Once you begin to allow yourself to be used in such a way, you’ll realize:

FLOW is the main thing.

Flow is what you are seeking.
You’re not necessarily trying to create anything new. You’re only desiring to be in such a clear, powerful state of flow whereby you become in tune with that which has already been created, and wants to be expressed through your physical vessel.

It is all done already.
Creation is complete.
You’re not necessarily creating anything new, as much as you’re birthing what has already been created in the unseen realms.

So your task, so to speak, is to give physical life to that which already is.

Many things exist in the unseen realms.
And those things have a desire to be seen.

Your human desire to create, to do, to be..
These are all desires to be witnessed.
You want to be seen.
You want to be felt.
You want to be known.

This is why you do the things you do.
This is why you have such dreams, and desires, and ambitions as you do now.

Understand that there are many unseen, or disembodied expressions that have desires for physical expression.
You are the vessel through which such will find life.

So when you write a book, so to speak, it’s not just you who has conjured up the idea for a book out of thin air.
You made yourself an available acquaintance for such a book to be written.

The Role of Flow

To get to such a point where you’re pulling ideas and full creations from the unseen realms requires that you get yourself into a state of Flow.

Flow is the secret place where Creator and Creation merge.
This is where you meet with your truest, most pure self.
Inside the Flow state, you are the most You that you could ever be.

It is important, therefore, for you to know the exact expressions that allow you to dance into the Flow state with ease.
What is it that causes you to Flow?

Think on this.

In those moments when you feel out of wack, not like yourself, melancholy, depressed, in all manner of low vibratory states:
These are the moments where your Soul is begging to be in Flow.

You are not lacking inspiration.
You are lacking Flow.

Inspiration comes freely and effortlessly once you’re able to put yourself in a Flow state.

How to Access It

There are many ways you can do this:

• Prayer

• Meditation

• Writing

• Drawing

• Dancing

• Painting

• Building

All manner of creativity.

So don’t wait for the inspiration before you start.
Start, and the inspiration will meet you when you enter the Flow state.

🖋 My Own Portal

I find myself in Flow when I’m writing, speaking, teaching.
These are the expressions that I enjoy.

To get into a Flow state, especially with writing, I just begin by writing.
I tell myself I’m going to get lost in time.

I understand that every paragraph or blurb that I write is an encapsulation of time.
So if I write for ten minutes, everything I’ve written in those ten minutes is a measure of that time.

If I spend four hours writing something, maybe a couple of chapters of a book, then those chapters become a measure of time.

This is a little fun game I play with myself.
And it helps me exercise the Flow state.

These words have been imprinted upon my soul like a celestial tattoo that I could never rid myself of.

For a long time, at the beginning of my Spiritual awakening journey, I was on the run.

Looking for something.

A great part of who I knew myself to be had become strangely unfamiliar.
I’d look in the mirror and not recognize the woman who stared back at me.

I was me—but no longer me.
And it took a great deal of courage to finally admit to myself that I was depressed.

My sense of self had become so tightly woven into the grief and the sadness, that I could no longer tell myself apart from the depression. I didn’t know where one ended and the other began.

Two years into the cycle, I began to feel like I was always on the run. Even when I sat still or lay in bed alone, my mind was running.
Always running.

I shielded myself from the world, barely ever wanting to leave my house. Sometimes the pain was too hard to bear and my only medicine was to embalm myself in the loud silence of solitude.

And yet...

Whenever I did leave the house, I’d feel this wave of relief.
A newness in the air.
A breath.
Like something in the wind was calling me back to life.

I’d bask in that feeling and tell myself that going out of my house was all I had been craving.

But it never lasted. Ehhhh!

Usually, after a few minutes of being away from home, the depression would show up again.
I could almost feel it taking a seat right next to me, tapping a chilling, reassuring hand on my thigh, whispering:

“Don’t worry. I’m always with you.”

And as soon as I’d be back home, the waves of mania would wrap themselves around me like the hug from an old friend.

This went on far longer than it should have.

Until I started to take my healing back into my own hands. Until I realized that no matter where I went—I was right there with me.

Whatever I had conjured up in my psyche to represent “I”... it was always present.

I didn’t need a Tibetan monk or spiritual guru to tell me what I needed.
It became blindingly clear:
The answers I was seeking—plus all the medicine I needed to heal—were within me.

So I began the lonesome, but deeply rewarding journey of going within.

Instead of running away from myself, which clearly wasn’t working, I began to run back to myself.

I sat for hours at my desk with my journal and pen, scribbling away as fast as I could to follow the guiding voice in my heart.
I practiced meditation—not just on the mat, but in everything.

Washing dishes became meditation.
Feeling the water, the sound, the warmth.
Walking became meditation.
Dropping into my hips, feeling their swaying rhythm.
Kissing became meditation. Holding on longer, playing a breathless melody with my tongue on theirs.

Soon, it became crystal clear: I was in a game I had called my life. And for far too long, I had been playing that game mindlessly. Just another character going through the motions.

But as I awakened, I realized...

I wasn’t just a character.
I was the main character.

And even wilder than that—
I was also the observer.
Watching it all play out.

I stopped asking “Why is this happening to me?”
And started asking:

“Gee! Look what I’ve stumbled upon on my journey now. What’s the plan? How do we wing this? What do you want me to know?”

Asking a different question brings a different answer—and that answer becomes your new reality.

“You can’t run too far when it’s yourself you’re running away from,” the Angel on my right whispered during a meditation.

And this time—I heard it.
I let it land.

I had stopped running.
Stopped looking outside for the answers.
I began to realize myself as the answer I had been seeking all along.

Now I knew myself not just as the player inside the game, but also the Observer.
And beyond that—my Higher Self.
The Great Animator.
The Source of the whole damn thing.

So when that day came...
The day I kicked my foot against the bed and shouted into the air that I had to leave Lagos by all means— and go spend some time in the Village.. I knew I wasn’t running just to run.

I had outgrown the space. The environment I was in could no longer contain the growth and stretching that my Soul was experiencing.

This part is important.

Sometimes, we convince ourselves we need a change of scenery.
We long for new energy.
But if what we’re really doing is trying to escape the parts of us we haven’t made peace with...
Then no matter where we go, we show up the same.

Where you are is where you are, you see?

So yes, environment matters.
But if what you’re running from is yourself—your pain, your shadow, your unhealed parts—then the location change is a delay, not a solution.

Still, don’t dismiss the power of your physical environment.

Every environment has its own main energy. Based on the history, the culture and the people who have congregated together in a specific location and timeline, you get a completely different cloud of consciousness. Not only that, each location houses its own earthly spirits, ancestral lords and unseen hands that govern the non-physical affairs of a place.

Let that sink in.

You’re not imagining things.
You really do thrive better in certain places.
There are lands and timelines your Soul has agreements with.

If you’re like me from three weeks ago—feeling like a fish out of water, desperate to escape Lagos Nigeria—listen closely:

You are not a tree. You can move!

You don’t have to stay in places that no longer serve you, nourish you, or support the evolution of your Soul.

And here’s the truth: Creating a new environment that supports your expansion doesn’t only mean relocating.

A new relationship with your surroundings.

My first thought of the day:
“Damn this fucking place!”

My head throbbed painfully from a sleep that was neither deep nor restful.
It was as though the morning had come just as quickly as I had gone to sleep last night.

The sweat on my naked body glistened in the morning light trickling through the windows. My bare skin had begun to stick to the cotton sheets, creating friction.
I cursed under my breath and pushed the pillows away in disgust.

The clock across my bed read 7:43 AM, and already the weather was as hot as Lagos could be.

I cursed again.

The power was out. Typical Nigerian life.

The apartment unit I lived in did not provide provisional generator services beyond 7 AM. I wasn’t to expect the power back until whenever the main stations decided to provide power today.

Or not at all.

The grrr-grrrr grinding outside continued, drilling its way into my ears. It had been going on morning after morning since I moved here.
I hated the noise.
I hated the heat.
I hated the waking world—and the morning had barely begun.

This was my life for many months since I moved back to Lagos. There wasn’t a day that passed into night without me making a complaint about the city.
I groaned about everything—from the air (which I could not control) to the apartment I lived in (which I could, if I’d just decide to move).

As much as I enjoyed my liberty to travel and settle wherever I pleased, I did not enjoy the idea of starting over again so soon.
It had barely been 7 months since I moved back from Accra. I told myself I needed to give Lagos a chance. To not complain so much.

I made a mental list of the very few reasons Lagos was good for me.

Top of the list: family.
Family that I could hardly see because they lived on the Mainland, while I lived on the other end of the Island.

The other reason: work.
I knew intuitively it was time to pour myself into my music career again.
I had convinced myself that moving back to Lagos would put me in the vicinity of musical like-minds. That it would help me get back in the groove.

It’s safe to say that didn’t exactly pan out like I imagined.

Yes, I enjoyed a few studio sessions here and there with some of my most-admired creative friends. But I could count on my fingers and toes how many times that happened.

I was learning fast:
I didn’t need to be fixed in a location to express and enjoy my music.

I tried the infamous Lagos nights a few times too.
Big mistake.
I could never get myself to enjoy them.

No sooner had I arrived at a venue than I wanted to escape through the back door.

I soon realized:
I enjoyed the comforts of my solitude more than anything else. There was nothing outside my house for me in Lagos anymore. My only solace was found in the sweaty confines of the gym—pushing heavy weights, stressing my muscles.

Day after day I went back to the gym to escape the cloud of melancholy threatening to descend on me.

My daily routine became fixed and unmoving:
Wake up. Work out. Sweat out the disgust. Get home. Try to work. Go to bed grumpy. Repeat.

But I couldn’t take it anymore.

In my silent soul meditations, I was learning that this was beyond a physical experience. Lagos had begun to threaten my very essence—my creative spark, my yearning for life.

The slow warning calls from my soul were growing louder.

Not a week passed without me riding another depression wave. My environment was taking more than it was giving.

“Babe! This place is killing me. I feel like a fish out of water. Lagos is not good for me.” I mouthed off to Aquia every time we spoke.
The longer she stayed in America, the longer our phone calls became.
We’d spend hours dissecting our individual lives, deconstructing religion, sharing stories of healing—building the Sister-bond that now held us together like glue.

“Girl, the way you complain about this your Lagos, ehhh! It must be really bad, chale. Where would you go now? Want to go back to Accra?”

She was worried.
Aquia worried for me more than I worried for myself.

For all the money I was spending to live in Lagos, I was getting a subpar experience of life in return. A case of giving, giving, giving—and never receiving.

And when I sat with myself and asked:
“What do you want?”

The answers were as simple as life itself.

I wanted clean air.
Quiet.
Peace of mind.
Slow mornings. Long walks in nature.
The songs of birds. The breeze from trees.
The descent of the sun in quiet solitude.

“I think my Spirit is calling me back home to my village, babe,” I told Aquia.
“I might go back to Accra later, but I need to see my parents first. Plus, nature will be good for me.”

“I swear you should! When you were there last year, you had such a good time, remember? It might be good for you.”

She was right.

All signs pointed home.

For weeks, I cradled the idea like a sore tooth I didn’t want to pull.
But it ached every day.

Now I was at my limit. I had had enough of complaining.
Without another thought, I packed a bag and booked a flight. I didn’t have to wait long to receive the wisdom and benefits of that one decision.

As soon as I stepped foot in Delta State, I knew I had made the right move.
My soul came alive with a burning flame for living. The gust of wind from the trees hit my body like a welcome embrace from a long-lost friend.

I’ve been here now for almost 3 weeks.

After being broke for too long and suffering years of an insidious depression that clawed at my soul, I realized 2 deep truths about Art and Money..

1. My Art is a gift to the world.

All I am tasked to do is share this gift lovingly, without worrying about how my gift will “give” me something in return.

Major 🔑.

Being able to create Art is the reward I get.

End of.

2. Make money so you can make art you love

I realized that If I truly wanted to enjoy my Art for the sake of Art, I had to find some other way to feed myself. This means to stop trying to squeeze the soul out of my Art just for money.

Major 🔑

Create a business or work that pays you while you figure this Art shit out.

Armed with these two realizations, I made a plan and forged a new path for myself. I decided to let go of how I believed my career could have panned out and faced reality.

Epic reality check: I needed money.

It dawned on me pretty quickly that a major cause of my depression was the fact that I was broke.

Wonderful!

My first step out of that dark place was getting in the gym, working out like a mad woman, and laying my pain on the metal. Next was to figure out a decent way to make money while still honoring my dreams of having a career in music.

But I had no plans of getting a job or working a 9-to-5 (thank you Rich Dad, Poor Dad📚 )

I read that book when I was 16, fresh out of secondary and waiting to get into Uni. I remember sitting through a whole weekend reading this book because I just couldn’t put it down.

My biggest takeaway from it at the time was to never settle for jobs and to avoid the programmed rat race as much as possible.

Fast forward to becoming a 30-something-year-old woman who had never worked a job in her life, I turned myself into the job.

Since all I knew and understood was the Internet, I figured I could try making money online.

And I did!

Here are 5 ways I now earn money online to support myself as an artist

(#5 is my favorite, for obvious reasons)

1. Coaching

By far the easiest for most people and the way I earned my first $1000 online.

I realized that my brain was packed with wisdom. Every other day I had endless DMs asking for advice and my help on one problem or the other. I could either play messiah and help everyone for free, or I could empower them to invest in themselves and get quality support from me.

So that’s what I did.

I stopped offering free advice all the time and started inviting my audience to pay me to help them. My first coaching call was $45 back in the year 2020. Now entrepreneurs pay thousands to coach with me for an hour.

It takes a little time but anyone can do this.

Monetization 101: Your mind is money if you say it is

2. Business Consulting

I invested 4+ years mastering marketing and sales. This was a seamless transition from deciding to become a content creator.

In the beginning, I just wanted to monetize my knowledge with eBooks so I could make some money. Next thing you know I’m learning sales psychology, persuasion marketing, web design, product design, sales funnel automation, and customer acquisition.

Armed with new high-income skills, I quickly leveled up my services and expanded my offerings. Now I work with top entrepreneurs and coaches, helping them make more sales online.

• Learn a high-value skill

• Solve a pesky painful problem

• Create massive results for clients

Problems = Hidden 💸💸

3. Content Creation

I get paid for my content on YouTube and I earn money from brand deals and partnerships. When I started my YouTube channel, I wasn’t motivated by Adsense because I already had a plan to monetize my YouTube with digital products.

However, when that first $1000 showed up in my YouTube balance as earnings from just one video, I was pumped! It’s nice to know that a video you created one time can continue to get you paid month after month.

I also build Content Strategy for artists and businesses —this means I get paid for “thinking” about how they should create content that sells.

It’s a great way for me to invest available cash, engage in my passion for interior design, and also be of service to travelers.

The best part, it’s all online and I never even have to meet my house guests

5. Selling online courses and digital products

This is my favorite because as a teacher and coach, I will forever have an endless supply of knowledge to share. This reality has saved me from the programmed poverty trap that has enslaved many people in the world today.

Unlike coaching where I have to be present, packaging my knowledge into courses allows me to earn money even when I’m offline, off work, in a different country, on the beach, or asleep 😴

All you need is your brain and a community of people who love learning from you. You’ve accumulated years of experience and learned a lot on your journey so far.

People will be happy to pay you so they can skip steps.

Unfortunately, I see many coaches and creators sell themselves too short or never at all.

All I had to do was press send. But I didn’t.

I’ve had this new music video uploaded to YouTube for more than 2 weeks now.

All I had to do was set a premiere date and hit publish.

I didn’t.

There are other things like this.

A piece of content I did not publish. A podcast episode I never released. A book I started writing but didn’t finish. A business idea I was excited about but never launched.

If you think you’re alone in this, I promise you’re not. Even those who look absolutely confident like they’ve got it all together, often fall short too.

A call to stop bullshitting yourself

In meditation the other day, I heard these words so clear in my head: “Your fear of being seen is keeping you small.”

Ironically, I’m the self-proclaimed life of the party. I’m the one who has a career in entertainment. I’m the one who is supposed to be confident and in everybody’s faces.

While I may be all of those things, I’m also the one who can shudder in fear and hide my gifts too. Apparently, the fear of being seen is a real thing and so many people suffer this, especially in these current times when being seen is part of our social program.

I wish I could write to you and tell you I have a solution, or give you tips that will help. But the best I can share for now is the same thing I have learned to live by: NOBODY CARES.

Left alone in our own little bubble in this vast universe, we like to think we are all that. We think of ourselves as important and that the rest of the world is watching us (The spotlight effect).

The unfortunate reality is, nobody cares. Everyone else is facing their own unique problems and trying to get their lives together.

People care to the extent that you care about them.. that means to the extent that what you do benefits them in some way. Beyond that, everyone else is just dealing with their own piece of the bullshit pie that life serves.

So while you’re worrying about what people would think, or if this is the right time to launch your thing, to create your art, to build your business, to grow your personal brand… or whatever else has got you up at night, remember: people are not thinking about you as much as you think.

They just don’t care.

What’s helping me is the same thing that’s helped me for as long as I’ve battled this: JUMP.

I just close my eyes and jump in spite of the fear.

No matter how many songs I release, I still experience this when a new release is coming. No matter how many newsletters I have written, when it’s time to send a new letter, I twiddle my thumbs and swallow dry spit in fear.

But I catch myself and I say to myself, just frigging do it!

Time will pass anyway, whether you do or you don’t. The annoying reality is, while you’re stopping yourself from doing the thing, others who are not half as good as you are doing it and shinning!

Imagine that!

Oh! And sidebar: Your fear of being seen is proof that there is nothing but good things and great rewards on the other side of letting people see you. But you’ll never know if you keep hiding.

Remember that.

Growing up, I always wanted to make one million Naira. Just 1.

Like most people, N1,000,000 felt like the magic number of achievement.

If you had a million Naira to your name, you were automatically in the top 1% of Nigerians who are millionaires.

Right?

But 10 years ago, N1,000,000 actually meant something.

Today? Not so much.

A Harsh Reality

N1,000,000 today is only about $600.

Just four years ago, during the 2020 pandemic, I was teaching people how to make N1,000,000 selling eBooks. Back then, one million Naira was worth $2,500.

Think about that.

In less than four years, one million Naira has lost more than half its value.

So forgive me when I say this: Having one million Naira today is almost nothing.

Yet, most Nigerians still see N1,000,000 as this huge goal.

If the current minimum wage is N70,000, one million Naira is still more than a year’s salary for most.

No matter how badly the Naira has fallen in value, one million Naira is still a big deal—especially if you live and spend in Nigeria.

And as someone who’s been dead broke multiple times, I get it.

How I Made My First N10,000,000

Back when I was hustling as a music artist, the magic number for every artist was N10,000,000.

If you landed a multi-million Naira deal, you’d "made it."

For this reason, I subconsciously created a ceiling of N10,000,000 in my mind.

Then one day, I hit it. A single endorsement deal. Boom. Done. Collected.

I remember the euphoria. My bank account had never seen that kind of money before. Even after splitting it with my team, my take-home was still several million.

I felt like I had arrived. Multi-millionaire Eva, me!

The problem?

My bank account got fatter, but my mind was still broke.

The Reality of a Broke Millionaire

You’ve heard the lottery story before, right? The winner who goes broke because they can’t handle the money.

That was me.

I spent recklessly. I gave so much money away—family, friends, acquaintances. Everyone got a piece of my big N10,000,000 pie.

And slowly but surely, my account balance dwindled.

Until I was back to zero.

The Depression That Set My Mind Straight

In 2016, I got very depressed and actually thought I was going to die. I was living paycheck to paycheck, barely able to keep up with my bills.

I came face to face with a hard truth: The major reason for my depression was that I was broke.

How do you wake up every day, knowing you’re so talented but can’t afford your basic needs?

After months of wallowing, I knew I needed to change.

There was no way I could continue being a broke, starving artist.

I quickly realized that I was financially illiterate. But what I lacked in financial intelligence, I made up for with a spirit eager to learn.

The Turning Point

Through the depression, I dove into the world of business and digital marketing and began learning everything I could.

My simple plan was to monetize my knowledge online by selling digital products, eBooks, classes, and courses.

That simple plan turned out to be the most important move I ever made.

In less than six months of creating and selling educational content online, I made my first N20,000,000.

My first eBook alone made over $5,000 in its first month.

And I was working from home, in pajamas on most days, using just my phone, laptop, and internet.

This shift completely changed my life.

It erased everything I thought I knew about money and revealed how much more I had to learn.

Why Now is the Time to Cash In

Today, the world has made it easier than ever to monetize your knowledge.

This time of the year is perfect for creators:

• Black Friday

• Cyber Monday

• Christmas and New Year

Before we dive into today’s letter, I have a confession: It’s been HARD AF writing here and being all the things at once. When I started these letters, I wanted to be able to deliver my thoughts and music directly to my community.

Then I started writing about ALL the other things I had interest in: Spirituality, Sex, Philosophy. everything jumbled in one. And yes, while this newsletter is called ‘EVARYTHING’ with Eva, it has indeed made it hard to deliver my best work to you consistently.

In changing that, I have decided to move all the Spirituality and Sex content to a closed channel. That way I can deliver the letters and content here in a more focused and consistent way without worrying about how I’m bombarding you with variety. Let’s talk about Money 🤑

Every now and then, I receive a DM from someone asking for money. The message usually goes something like this:
"I can’t believe I’m doing this, but I had no other choice. I’m facing a tough time now and need financial help..."
Then the sender will go on and on about something painful but not unique happening to them. Anything from school bills, house rent, medical support, and all kinds of needs.

Messages like these always take me back to the time when I needed money myself.

A time when money was all I could think of, and the lack of it brought me to my knees in desperate shame.

The Starving Artist 😪

Most people just want to create their art and heal the world.

We don’t bother about money at first. We may think about it, plot ways to get it, but even in the absence of money, we still plunge head-first into our art. And for most of us, we are as ignorant about money as we are passionate about making art.

Being a broke, starving artist made me come face to face with my own ignorance about money and how money works.

The subject of money was not something that came up easily in conversation. It was also almost completely intentionally avoided as a subject in schools.

The best education I had about money came from the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad.

I read it first when I was 16 years old and again in my twenties. The biggest lesson I took away was that I needed to avoid the rat race as much as possible.

Here’s what the rat race looks like:

Go to school for all your young years → Get out with good grades → Get a job and work all your adult years → Settle on measly pension in your old age.

That never looked like a great bargain for a creative busybody like me.

So for me, this meant I was never getting a job.

No matter what happened, I was going to figure out how to generate income by being my own controller. I had to make myself the job.

This mindset marinated deep in my subconscious as I finished my final year in university. It was the reason I fled so fast from school right after my final papers and didn’t even wait to attend my own graduation party.

So no, I have no graduation photos where I’m full-faced smiling surrounded by friends and family. I never went back to school to get my certificate either.

Instead, I threw myself 10+ years deep into a music career that I was sure was my destiny.

The Music Dream vs. Reality

I had already spent a big chunk of my social life in school performing on stages, being the life of the party, and entertaining my peers. I always thought of myself as a star, and I wanted to be on TV.

In my mind, I was going to make it as a big music artist, make a lot of money, and never worry a day in my life.

And for some time, it seemed like I had made the best decision. In a few short years, I was living my dream! My music career worked out, I was on stages, traveling all over the place, and I had become a “star.”

At least, I was famous, right?

Except that fame and money don’t necessarily always go hand in hand, as I soon found out.

Being an independent female rapper in Nigeria was hard. I was barely able to stay afloat. Being a star is one thing, but being a broke star is a whole different level of struggle to take on.

I was living from check to check, barely able to afford rent. I had driven myself to work hard on my passion for rap music, but my passion wasn’t profitable enough to pay rent at the time.

I experienced firsthand how people in the music business made decisions about who to hire and who to pay more. Rap wasn’t considered the most valuable genre at the time. If most of my money came from performing shows, and all my show checks were judged based on the fact that I was a rapper and a woman, I always ended up working for peanuts.

Between studio bills, promotion costs, payments for my crew, and my personal welfare, I was hanging on by a thread. It was tough, it was lonely, and I was overwhelmed.

The unfortunate result was many years of depression that almost sent me to an early grave. At the forefront of my many worries and declining mental health was the issue of money.

Money, money, money.

More than anything else, money seemed to be an all-pervading necessity. No matter what you want to do, at some point, you’ll need money—even if it’s just for food in your belly. And at that time, food was becoming hard for me to afford.

I soon made the hard decision to take a step back from my music and work on my money-getting skills. Between my declining mental health and severe lack of self-esteem, I needed to find a way to fix my money problems.

The Shift to Making Money Online 📱

I couldn’t go get a job. That wasn’t an option. Rich Dad, Poor Dad, remember?

My only plan was to figure out how to make money online by selling my knowledge.

I said to myself, “I’m smart. I’m experienced. I enjoy writing. I can write eBooks and sell them for profit. Then I can take that money and pay for my main passion—music.”

What I thought was going to be a simple case of growing a new Instagram page to sell eBooks turned out to be a whole different ball game.

Did I make money online?

Yes, yes I did!

Even more than I had earned from my years of toiling in the music business. But more than money, I gained high-value skills.

Skills > School 👀

Doing one thing—selling digital products—required me to do many things well. To effectively monetize online and make money, I realized I also needed to learn

• coaching

• web design

• copywriting

• sales closing

• video editing

• product design

• public speaking

• content creation

• audience building

I didn’t set out to learn these skills. They literally opened up to me as a necessity the more I pursued my online business.

And because in the beginning, you may have to do everything yourself, you’re faced with having to learn as many skills as possible in a short time.

That’s what happened to me.

Your Problems Contain the Seed of Your Purpose and Profit

When it came time to start selling my online courses and digital products, I faced yet another challenge.

There were no online platforms that allowed me, as a Nigerian, to sell my courses easily and get paid by anyone, anywhere in the world. All the available platforms either didn’t support African regions or rejected Nigerian users entirely. I was stuck.

I had to find a way to make my dream of selling my knowledge online possible.

I called the one person I knew could solve this problem, my brother, Keno Alordiah.

I said to him on the phone, “Guy, we need to build a course-hosting platform that enables Africans to sell their knowledge online easily. There has to be a way.”

Being the web-design genius that he is, Keno invested the next two weeks into creating the first prototype for Kobocourse: an all-in-one platform helping African creators make money online.

This is what gets me out of bed today.

But does it exist or is it all an illusion? I dare say it is pure illusion. (I know what I know that I do not know)

Sometime last year, I induced myself into a deep state of meditation. It was a trance-like meditative experience. I was here but I wasn’t here.

I lay still on my bed, no longer aware of my physical environment as my consciousness had traveled beyond time.

I could hear my voice speaking out the words but I knew it wasn’t me who was talking. When I later came out of this meditative trance, I understood the voice speaking to be my future self. What you might sometimes call the higher self.

She was directing me back into a memory of my past from when I was 6 years old. It was the scene in which my so-called “Uncle” had me propped against the wall, driving his bulky fingers into the innocence of my frail 6-year-old body.

The voice speaking through my mouth was saying things like - “We clean up this memory now and we heal this wound..”

“Elohor, Elohor, you are safe now. This memory is transformed and the child is healed..”

“Elohor, Elohor…”

This was me lying on my bed in 2023, in a trance, speaking these words to my past self in the memory.

But I remember so very clearly when this event happened when I was six. After my “Uncle” was done fondling my little thighs and poking his fingers painfully in and out of me, he left me standing there in the deafening silence that had remained in his wake.

I remember so vividly as I stood there feeling shame and guilt wash over me, a voice suddenly boomed through the walls and ceiling of our house.

The voice called my name as if from the skies- “Elohor, Elohor…”

As a little six-year-old who had just been touched by a man, I was very afraid and believed it was God calling me. Certainly, God must have seen what had just happened and was calling me to judgment (No thanks to the scary believer movies we grew up on that messed with our psyche)

I remember being very afraid, running to the windows to see if it was my brother, checking in the rooms to be sure I wasn’t tricking myself. But I was alone in the house.

For many years after that, whenever that memory came to mind, I’d remember how the voice from the skies had called my name and how so afraid I was at the time.

Fast forward more than 28 years later, here I was, the future version of me, laying in bed in a trance, going back into the past to visit that memory and calling my name, “Elohor, Elohor.. we are healing this memory now and we…”

OMG!

Could it be, that the 6-year-old me back then was receiving the voice of the 35-year-old me from the future? Whaaaatt?

When I woke up from that trance, I had chills all over my body. I realized I had just experienced time in a brand new way and I could not contain myself. It was surreal. It was scary and delicious and just mind-blowing all at once.

Since then I have taken it upon myself to PLAY with time, to bounce around in and out of the past and future and of course, to be very intentional about the Present moment. I have been time-traveling “intentionally” and quantum-jumping all over the place.

But this is something we are all doing from moment to moment anyway. When you remember something, you’re time-traveling. When you visualize the future, you’re time-traveling. Except, our limited human mind likes to think of time as a straight line, which it is not.

Everything happens in the present moment. There is nothing that has been, or will be that does not come from now. It’s all Now. All time is now.

After hundreds and hundreds of DMs, comments, messages, and even phone calls saying the same thing: “Eva, come back...”

I finally found hidden in those words, the truth I didn’t know I needed:

Then one day it hit me like a brick to the head.

Shit! Why didn’t I think about that before? 

Well, I was so focused on my not having money that my brain could not think of how to make money. 

As soon as I switched gears, a whole new magical world of opportunities opened up. Understand that we can only drive our conscious awareness in one direction of focus at a time. 

The Universe wants to help you achieve your goals.. but she depends on your focus to drive you in the right direction. If you focus on lack, you get more lack. If you focus on the little you have, you get more of that. 

(“To him who has, more will be given.. to him who has not, even that which he has will be taken away…”) 

Read that again.

Today, I now understand that money is not necessarily what makes me happy. Simply choosing to be happy and being grateful for other resources of life, love, family, and growth.. can open up an unprecedented level of happiness. 

You already “have” something. I hope you focus on your focus and choose to focus on the bright side of Life. Change your thinking and you’ll change your life. Literally!

Life is really good if you say it is.
